anybody keeps Laechis here?

So on the whole,keeping the Lachesis should be a little more difficult than keeping rattlesnakes, isn't it? Except the temperature & the size of preys, any else need to notice?

Well if you cant provide the right habitat for rattlesnakes they will be difficult to keep as well.
It all comes down to try replicate the enviroment where they live and you are fine.

Yes you are right . Easy or hard,depends on the difference between the local climate and habitat climate.

I have checked some stuff it show that the Lachesis.m distribute in most of Amazon rainforest that's different from the Central america rainforest.Could it mean the southern america bushmasters tolerate the higher temperature?

They live in burrows and logs and never see Sunlight except rare occasions. At the bottom of the rainforest its cooler because of the moist. So max 25-26 centigrades during the dryer season and 20-24 during wet season.
If it gets 28-30 they will regurgitate food and they will inevitibly succumb and die.

Sorry for tangling this issue such a long time. Because here a snake seller wanna sell a L.muta to me. It's strange that he said it has been kept at 30°C since march this year. The snake is still alive!

Another example, we know rhino adder (river jack) lived at the similar temperatures with Lachesis, but I know a person was keeping his rhino adder above 30°C without any cooling equipments in summer for 2 years,the summer of his hometown would last 4 months and sometimes it's near 40°C.He said ventilation is more important than air-condition.

So I am puzzled, whether the animals have more powerful endurance beyond our imagination? But if I decide to keep one,the condition must be right for it. If I cant set the temperature at 24°C steadily I would not buy it.

Lachesis are unique snakes and gorgeous animals, this is such a pity that they grow endangered, especially the rhombeata subspecies.
