| Very nice shots, and a outstanding snake too. I know only the normal brownish ones, but I´ve never seen such an red one. Is this a special color morph from this region? Or did you find them all around the distribution area? Very cool! | |

There are 2 subspecis of Copperhead in Australia. The pictures i took was from an ''Lowland Copperhead'' Austerlaps superbusHowever the other variety, the ''Highland Copperhead'' Austrelaps ramsayiis more brownish. These Highland copperheads are also a bit smaller and they are supposed to be less venomous. Ofcourse they occure in other places then the one i found. Check google on the name and you see a brown Copperhead @ Patrick Waffek, Yes,in some suburbs and regions around Melbourne they are pretty common! Together with tigersnakes ( Notechis scutatus),they are the most found snake in these regions! @all, thank you for all your kind and loving replys | |

| Thanks Ralf, I see, my Literature about Australia´s venomous is not up-to-date, I have to manage it in the future... I have known only the A. superbus not the ramsayi. Thanks for this information! | |
