| Hi, I have four of these, but these are pics of the same girl I took while cleaning her cage. They are all CB, although I didn't breed these ones myself. I can be pretty sure they are all Barkly adders given I know the breeder, the breeder of the parent stock, and he obtained them direct from the person who sourced the grandparents from the Barkly Tableland in the Northern Territory.    and finally... | These are some nice Death Adders. Very brightly coloured. Love them. They don't look like much like Hawkei, but I'm no expert.

very nice Death Adder you have there. Not so often seen here in Europe. I like all Acanthophis and it´s a real pitty, that we can not import this as CB from Australia.... The absolute Favorite Elapid Genus for me. | |

Marcel, this is CB. I didn't breed this, although I did breed the A. antarcticus shown in my other thread. The original hawkei (a few generations ago now) were collected from a place called Anthony's Lagoon on the Barkley Tableland. A few keepers have been breeding these over the past 10-15 years, and mine came from one of those breeders. They are generally considered to be the largest of the death adders. I have personally seen one which was 110cm long, and have heard of them reaching 125cm. That's big when you consider A. antarcticus maxes out at around 80cm.
Peter - I agree! My favourite elapid, too.

No, I was cleaning out cages so I used the opportunity to put the snakes on the ground in my backyard and take photos...

| Amazing - me and Graeme were looking for these in November, but we had no such luck. From the Barkly Roadhouse, we drove around 70km, through the tablelands. We did find a nice P. nuchalis though.
