They are both great. One showing their gentle side, the other showing those huge teeth. I prefer the first though.

It is for a competition. I am completely undecided which to send.

But it's a kind of faux pas anyway. Even the character of Mr. Mugabe" and not his colour is meant, it's an affront to these majestic hominids in my opinion.

I enjoy the second image.

The first to me is almost a studio type shot. (no offence at al here).

I would assume dependent on the nature of the competition both are splendid images.

Well a German photo circuit as a tryout, to find out if people like it. The first does not fit into "nature" but into "free" topic.
The second would manage the nature criteria too, I guess.

I am participating in a couple of contests every year. Last one was national championships of Austria, which worked quite well - 9th place from 760 participants overall (12 pictures) and an Argentinian contest which also worked ok - two honourable mentions.

Picture one is a standout, according to me..

I like the second one best.

They are both of great quality, but I prefer the second as it show the animal, exibiting a natural behaviour, whereas I look at the first, as more of a portrait.
