Best regards M | |

| Wether amelanistic nor suphan have to deal deal with leucistic, they're complitely different defect mutations on completely different loci Additionally, leucism is lacking of pigment cells, whereas the reason for amelanism are pigment cells unable to produce melanin. regards Peter

| I always get confused with these, Peter. You explained Leucism and Amelanism (thanks!), but what is Suphan? And ist Albino the same as Leucism? And what means "het"? | |

Depends on what you call "Suphan" really is. If it's genetic, you will have additionally some babies het. for that. see here this former "suphan or not suphan"-discussion Peter

| As Peter said, Leucistic is a completely different gene than Albino and Suphan. If you breed an albino to a Suphan 100% het albino, approximately 50% of the hatchlings will be albino, and the other hatchlings will be 100% het Albino and 100% het Suphan. | |

The problems on those discussions are the real meanings of the words or breeders ideas , if they create troubleshooting new names for their morphs - knowing nothing about genetics.

| Yes Hans, the name Suphan comes from Suphan Buri Province, Thailand. Suphan Buri is North Northwest of BKK. And as WW said before, it is pronounced Soo-Pahn, but I still hear people pronounce it as Soo-Fan.

| Thank you very much!! Now I know exactly what I could expect.. So not even if I put 1.1 albino kaouthia, will I get Leucistic..?
Thanks! | |

| Fabian is correct about the albino breeding.
To get Leucistics, you must breed at least het Leucistic to het Leucistic, unless something extremely rare happens and a Leucistic just happens to pop up in a clutch.
