Snakes-their future?

With the recent passing of yet another fellow herper (Predrag Ristic) & the drama's with his animals that Neven Vrbanic is having to deal with, I was just wondering what arrangements have been made by us for our animals when our time is up. With me my pythons will be donated to the local herp society whereas a few mates will have options on the vens. My wife (who has nothing to do with any animal) is aware of my wishes & i'll have to document this in my will. I will also have to do a letter to the licencing department here as well stating my wishes for the said animals. Curious as to what others have "organized". Cheers.

Interesting issue, Nigel. I have left mine in my will to one or two friends, but I have ZERO faith that my will will be given any credence by the local licensing department. I suspect they would confiscate them if and when they became aware of my passing. I may be doing the department a disservice, but there is no clarity about this, and generally where there is no clarity, the department is ultra "conservative"...

I did start similar discussion in Stefan Thomsons terrarium animal forum, year and half ago. That topic did remind to my head, again when i did read Predrad accident.
Lets face it; all of us gonna die, somebody of us might have to stay reason or another in hospital, etc, etc. Many things might change in our live no matter what we have planned.

Few of us; users of that forum, did talk openly and also maked plan b.

I do know where my room mates can make phone call, if it impossible to me.
I also do know now for whom i can make a phone call, as im also ready to help.

All respect to police, fire department, animal rescue teams, etc. but there is no sense to give possible problem to them.

As Toni said, most of us in that forum have done work to avoid any problems if we aren´t able to work with our animals. On my terrarium rooms door is a list of persons who have enough knowledge and will to move or take care of my snakes ... if I cannot do that myself. If something happen to me ... those guys are only persons who can go to that room - none of my family or public authorities cannot go there before those good guys have done their job there.
Thanks to those guys (Toni etc.) , I can live my life without worries abt what to do when ...
