Dear Venomland Members and Friends, Venomland is a little more than 6 years old now and by far the biggest Hot Snake community on the Planet! We want to thank all of you who made Venomland the leading Board. We are also very thankful to our Moderators and Admins for years of hard work. Now, it is time to move on. I have been thinking how to proceed and what to do with our beloved board as we reach a size, that we need to make drastic changes to secure the future of our community. As of now, Venomland is hosted by a free (well mostly free) hosting service. That was good for the first years but now we need to find a new way to run our forum. I have spend hundreds of Dollars over the years to keep Venomland up and running, and i have done so with pleasure. Now, we need your help! We need to come up with several thousand dollars for our Venomland 2.0 project, which i frankly cant pay for any longer by myself. So Venomland is asking his Friends and Members for the first time for their financial Support. Please help to keep Venomland alive, and let us move on to a new, better Portal in the Future! Every Dollar is helping us a great deal. I know, its hard times for everyone, but please spare a few Dollar for our community. If you have only 10 Dollars to spare, we are grateful, if it is more, it would be awesome. We are planning to develop a very new Venomland, with real community functions, a forum like you are already loving it and a real (online) Hot Snake Magazin. Also, there will be download areas for scientific papers, Wallpapers and more. Again folks, we can only do that if you all help. Please send me a Private Message if you want to keep Venomland alive, i will provide you with the details on how to donate Money. For now, we can accept money from creditcards via skrill (please google it, its a free service - account-details will be forwarded to you) and paypal. All the best, and for a (hopefully) nice future of our Board. Mario

I have kept A. squamigera for several years now and I managed to get a pair of A. chlorechis to my collection this year.
I have had only one clutch from my squamigera pair but I'll hope this changes next year.

Oh I feel sorry from youre lost mate. Were they CB or WC animals and how old?
I have kept both of my A. chlorechis little warmer than squamigera, around 28-30'c at day and 21-23'c at night. I'm not sure about the humidity % but I have misted them slightly more than squamigera.

Cheers Sami

they were both CB08 and from different breeders, they were being kept at around 28 during the day and 25 at night, misted every three days or so, fed on pinky bits. hey ho, that's the way it goes

Nice photos, as always Sami.

Chlorechis neonates are at least as hardy as squamigera neonates. But they are all susceptible to respiratory infections if kept too wet. Misting three times a week is too much for me. I typically do once a week, even with neonates. And I like for it to dry out fairly quickly after spraying, so lots of ventilation. I haven't lost a baby since I stopped treating them like they were a true rain forest species. Just my opinion.

Thanks from the tips Derek.
I know ventilation is the key for almost all the species I keep and as always wet terrarium or box, incase of offsprings, is going to give you troubles in a long run.

I have mist the A. chlorechis around 3 times per week now, but perhaps I could drop it to two. I have check the climate information of Ghana etc. and there is sure couple of months without rain at all..

Have you withness any drinking from the waterbowl with this sp. Derek?

Hi all,
I have a pair of adult chlorechis, and I only spray them once a week. Both mine regularly drink from their water bowl, I change their water at least twice a week and they usually use the bowl once a week. I have had them for about two years now.
All the best,
Brian.

Exactly Sami! In their natural climate they go through very rainy seasons and fairly dry seasons, as well, so they are adept at taking both conditions....but not for extended periods. You ever notice how when you spray true rainforest species (schlegeli, wagleri, etc) they bow their heads to drink, but when you spray Atheris (squam, cerat, chlorechis) they get mad as hell and start striking? They just don't like it. I think they are more used to drinking from water pockets than from rain water, otherwise they would like being sprayed (just a theory). Yes, I have seen chlorechis drink from bowls regularly.
