| Hi Markus , Nice to have someone from South America on the forum. Nice animals too, at first look I though you had Bitis atrops in the first picture as they can look very similar. Do you do any field trips in you area? would be nice to see some landscapes.
Enjoy you stay | |

| Hi Markus, Nice to see someone from Brazil here. you have some really nice Bothrops there. as it has been said they are not too easy to find here in any numbers. I have had some very mean Bothrops Asper and a really nice pair of Bothrops Jararaca over the years. A friend of mine has 2 pairs of Bothrops Alternatus, which have only bred once in 4 years, so any tips there would be greatfull. I know they are not Bothrops but if all goes to plan I should have a pair of Lachesis Muta soon. Some other good news is my Crotalus Mitchelli stefensi has started giving birth tonight so I'll be busy tonight. Paul | |

| Mario thanks, i born in Ulm Germany but i came to Brazil with 4 years old. Andrew, Bothrops cotiara lives in the most cold areas here in Brazil, special forest the Araucária Forest. In this place, we have the south america pinus the Araucaria angustifolia. In this same forest but diferent states we have Bothrops cotiara and Bothrops fonsecai, but only the Bothrops cotiara resists the snow. Is rare the snow but some times we have snow in these areas in south of Brazil. Now, Bothrops cotiara in danger i was 46 days in this place and nothing, the local young guys dont know this animals. The institutes do not receive this animal. The local guys use the araucaria, and they destroy the forest. This specie will disappear with the destruction of its habitat. Only more 10 years i believe, this specie will be disappeared in the nature. Sorry guys for my terrible english The Araucaria | |
