Dear Venomland Members and Friends, Venomland is a little more than 6 years old now and by far the biggest Hot Snake community on the Planet! We want to thank all of you who made Venomland the leading Board. We are also very thankful to our Moderators and Admins for years of hard work. Now, it is time to move on. I have been thinking how to proceed and what to do with our beloved board as we reach a size, that we need to make drastic changes to secure the future of our community. As of now, Venomland is hosted by a free (well mostly free) hosting service. That was good for the first years but now we need to find a new way to run our forum. I have spend hundreds of Dollars over the years to keep Venomland up and running, and i have done so with pleasure. Now, we need your help! We need to come up with several thousand dollars for our Venomland 2.0 project, which i frankly cant pay for any longer by myself. So Venomland is asking his Friends and Members for the first time for their financial Support. Please help to keep Venomland alive, and let us move on to a new, better Portal in the Future! Every Dollar is helping us a great deal. I know, its hard times for everyone, but please spare a few Dollar for our community. If you have only 10 Dollars to spare, we are grateful, if it is more, it would be awesome. We are planning to develop a very new Venomland, with real community functions, a forum like you are already loving it and a real (online) Hot Snake Magazin. Also, there will be download areas for scientific papers, Wallpapers and more. Again folks, we can only do that if you all help. Please send me a Private Message if you want to keep Venomland alive, i will provide you with the details on how to donate Money. For now, we can accept money from creditcards via skrill (please google it, its a free service - account-details will be forwarded to you) and paypal. All the best, and for a (hopefully) nice future of our Board. Mario

Hello Markus,
can you tell me the different between Popia fucata from Malaysia and your P. nebularis?
It´s not a joke why I´m asking. A lot of animals that are offered from Malaysia are P. fucata even if it is told that they are from the Cammeron Highlands.

Maybe this would answer your question, Jörg:
Vogel, G., P. David & O.S.G. Pauwels
(2004) A review of morphological variation in
Trimeresurus popeiorum (Serpentes: Viperidae: Crotalinae), with
the description of two new species. Zootaxa 727: 1-63.

I' someone here has been successful in finding the full article (instead of the abstract), please let me know.....

Hi

At first, these are 2 animals, i don't know it exactly yet, but I think it's a pair.

One is smaller and has not such a big and flat head like the bigger one, pictures of their tales have to be done, I'll post them as soon as I made them.

The pictures I posted, 1 & 2 = the small one 3 = the big one

Thank you for your posts, the green eyes and the shape of the head are really awesome Smile

And here; the Big ones head and tail:

Ok you´re right that are really P. nebularis.
Gernot Vogel told me that P. nebularis are the only species in the popeiorum complex with an "albolabris-tail". And he should know that because he descriped this species Very Happy

The looks like CB snakes! Very nice! Both snakes on the pictures?

I have a pic from 2008, I have visited Malysia. I found there by an Exporter a lot of nebularis, but the don´t give them food them and enought water. So you can see the condition of the snakes on this pic. Only 2 from around 30 are looked ok, maby the have catch them the day before!? You can see two males on the picture, both has red and withe stripes. I don´t know if all males of nebularis has this!
But you can see, that not all nebularis has green eyes...

Yes and no. Yes young male has it, but they loose their stripes when they´re getting older. One piont that make this species so special.

Hi everybody,

Thank you for all your posts.

Yeah they look really fine for WC animals, i've got them from a good friend, he mainly imports arachnids (birdspiders) and he only got this 2 animals from his exporteur in Malaysia, so, not all WC animals are near death Smile (but sadly the most...)

I will post again when I have the tail pictures.

Best regards
Markus

ok guys..whats the diff between an albolabris tail and a Popeiorum complex tail??
ive seen both in India(north-east himalayas).
Is the difference something got to do with the amont of red that covers the tail??
more in popeiorum than in albolabris or something i have not noticed...
And yes as Peter Zurcher said if anyone has access to that paper in 2004 please let us know...

Markus, You are the man. I picked up one of these at the columbia show several months ago and have had the hardest time identifying him and with your pics. it was easy he is the spitting image of your animal.
Here he is. Sorry for the quality its a cell phone camera.
