Dear Venomland Members and Friends, Venomland is a little more than 6 years old now and by far the biggest Hot Snake community on the Planet! We want to thank all of you who made Venomland the leading Board. We are also very thankful to our Moderators and Admins for years of hard work. Now, it is time to move on. I have been thinking how to proceed and what to do with our beloved board as we reach a size, that we need to make drastic changes to secure the future of our community. As of now, Venomland is hosted by a free (well mostly free) hosting service. That was good for the first years but now we need to find a new way to run our forum. I have spend hundreds of Dollars over the years to keep Venomland up and running, and i have done so with pleasure. Now, we need your help! We need to come up with several thousand dollars for our Venomland 2.0 project, which i frankly cant pay for any longer by myself. So Venomland is asking his Friends and Members for the first time for their financial Support. Please help to keep Venomland alive, and let us move on to a new, better Portal in the Future! Every Dollar is helping us a great deal. I know, its hard times for everyone, but please spare a few Dollar for our community. If you have only 10 Dollars to spare, we are grateful, if it is more, it would be awesome. We are planning to develop a very new Venomland, with real community functions, a forum like you are already loving it and a real (online) Hot Snake Magazin. Also, there will be download areas for scientific papers, Wallpapers and more. Again folks, we can only do that if you all help. Please send me a Private Message if you want to keep Venomland alive, i will provide you with the details on how to donate Money. For now, we can accept money from creditcards via skrill (please google it, its a free service - account-details will be forwarded to you) and paypal. All the best, and for a (hopefully) nice future of our Board. Mario

Sorry that photographs are not so good, but I am really bad at taking pictures Embarassed

Congratulations, Anze!
And thank you for sharing.

Concerning your attitude towards V. ammodytes I can really understand you. I too often visit "old friends" though they are not as close to my house as "your´s".

Good luck,
Rainer

I do like your pictures, the longissimus looks nice, healthy and like a good sized one. Are they easy to find/common sights there?
And the viridis is just plain awesome, hopefully you´ll find the mating pic too Smile
But all are very nice pictures, from the first viridis to last muralis (Lacertidae is close enough Wink ).

Thanks again for sharing Smile

This particular specimen (Z.longissimus) was about 170cm and quite old. A tip of a tail was missing and it had some "old scars". But very beautiful specimen and quite defensive (more than usual). Z. longissimus is without doubt my favourite european non-venomous snake. They are quite common here, but this year I saw only two adults and two about 30cm babys and one adult dead on the road. But usually I have no camera with me Embarassed But I find much more ammodytes than longissimus (or any other snake Smile )

I'll try to find those pictures of viridis ... I took them just about few weeks ago ... but my computer broke down, so I have some problems finding them Neutral

Cheers!
Anze

And one more V.ammodytes (one day before shedding):

So this season is comming to the end and today (as I have some time) I am going through some pictures I made this year. Ofcourse these are not high quality pics, as I don't know how to use a camera and that is why I am taking pictures only outside as I cant make any good pics inside Sad

However ... some pictures I didn't post before, I am posting it now ...

And my favourite insect:
Slovenia (June, 2009) Bogi-medium

This year me and some friend went on a field trip to croatia, to find out what is true and what is false with dalmatian tortoises ... is there reason to recognize a valid subspecies Testudo hermanni hercegovinensis or not ... We did quite a big research but this is just a beginning ... Because I did not ANY venomous snakes where we were (I dedicated all day just searching for venomous snakes), I am posting only one pic of a tortoise Smile

Slovenia (June, 2009) Zelva

Cheers! Wink

Nice! It's a shame that we only have couple of reptiles etc. in nature..
It sure would be nice to see V. ammodytes in situ
