Please beware, to register at venomland you are requested to use your full name (first and family name) - nicknames are not allowed and will be not activated! thx Dear Venomland Members and Friends, Venomland is a little more than 6 years old now and by far the biggest Hot Snake community on the Planet! We want to thank all of you who made Venomland the leading Board. We are also very thankful to our Moderators and Admins for years of hard work. Now, it is time to move on. I have been thinking how to proceed and what to do with our beloved board as we reach a size, that we need to make drastic changes to secure the future of our community. As of now, Venomland is hosted by a free (well mostly free) hosting service. That was good for the first years but now we need to find a new way to run our forum. I have spend hundreds of Dollars over the years to keep Venomland up and running, and i have done so with pleasure. Now, we need your help! We need to come up with several thousand dollars for our Venomland 2.0 project, which i frankly cant pay for any longer by myself. So Venomland is asking his Friends and Members for the first time for their financial Support. Please help to keep Venomland alive, and let us move on to a new, better Portal in the Future! Every Dollar is helping us a great deal. I know, its hard times for everyone, but please spare a few Dollar for our community. If you have only 10 Dollars to spare, we are grateful, if it is more, it would be awesome. We are planning to develop a very new Venomland, with real community functions, a forum like you are already loving it and a real (online) Hot Snake Magazin. Also, there will be download areas for scientific papers, Wallpapers and more. Again folks, we can only do that if you all help. Please send me a Private Message if you want to keep Venomland alive, i will provide you with the details on how to donate Money. For now, we can accept money from creditcards via skrill (please google it, its a free service - account-details will be forwarded to you) and paypal. All the best, and for a (hopefully) nice future of our Board. Mario

| This is the best place to write this, as everybody is on here near enough.
I'd just like to briefly say a few words...
Over the last 6 months or so, I have been on the forums, getting thrashed left, right and center.
I have a slight understanding as to why now...(Because I want to keep venomous with little experience??)
I understand that folks have became alienated because of this, and I do not want this to happen any further.
I have spoken to several venomous keepers verbally, and now I do see their point of view.
Basically, I refuse to alienate myself any further. Yes, I have a passion for venomous reptiles and Crocodillians, it is just me, it is in my blood and it is all I have ever wanted to do with my life, that is be successful with the animals I love most, and try and survive while working with them.
I understand some people have became offended over this...Please may I ask, those of you who are concerned, please take a few moments to send me a PM, and discuss it further.
I would like to start over, a fresh start with people, and make it work this time, and hopefully I can make some excellent friends in the community, and be successful in this field.
I am going to play by your rules, not mine....yours. Everybody who has more experience then I do, will make the rules that I have to follow. And I will follow those rules.
Over the last couple of days, I have been in a stroppy mood over this, and I'd like to take a few minutes to make a public appology especially to Wolfgang Wuster, Paul Rowley, and Al Coritz for my behaviour, as with many many others.
This will never happen again.
So, all I ask, is for a chance to change, with everybody, and myself? I know I have said this before, and gone back to square one, but this time I am going to work on it.
Best regards, and all the best to all.
James. |

| Well best of luck with that and hopefully you´ll get a fresh start. I´m sure there´s many here who share the feeling and passion in this hobby and there´s always so much more to learn. Everyone makes mistakes, we can only hope that in the end we learn something from those and maybe not make the same mistakes again. I know that this has got nothing to do with me but i just wanted to wish you luck Cheers Stefan | |

| I wish you good luck also and yes we all make mistakes but its one way of learning what not to do. As far as playing by "OUR" rules, the only rule is respect. Respect yourself and mother natures. Respect the animals you deal with and the people around you and everything else falls into place. Good luck. | |

Well Paul, thnx for the comment and your statement. VenomLand was alwas known to be strict on certain things. especially on bad behaviour of their members... i, for now, will lay a close eye on this matter. if james indeed is about to change - he have his chance here, as he has not broken any of our rules by now. and james, just do it, you dont need to appologize - just respect folks around here. otherwise ill need to have some actions done, which means, terminating of your account. we have only a small group of members, but we can say, we have the creme among scientists and hobbyists from all corners of the world. some of our members are here because we do communicate in a different way with each other. and ill make sure that will not change. we will not become just another reptile forum, where peoples fooling around and hiding behind their nicknames... cheers Mario

Sorry Paul, but this is also no example for "respect for the forum rules".

| The chap is only 16, most of us were probably a little rough around the edges in our teens, and most of us probably needed to be given a couple of chances to realize that respecting other individuals and there differences of opinion is part of life, and on forums like this can at the same time bring you a wealth of knowledge. Mario makes the "rules" but i think maybe on this forum the guy deserves another chance. If he carries on like a hooligan again then close his account.... | |

| My 2p worth...... James has apologised to me probably about three times now and each and every time he says he's learned not to regurgitate info gained from other, more experienced keepers as his own, he's also promised to start "at the bottom" with regard to herps and not just "wait two years and then go for a DWA license". He then goes off on another forum and completely "thumbs his nose" at everything that he's been advised to do, probably thinking that I and others don't go on other forums. I have told him that he has treated me like a fool too often, yet I am still bombarded with friend requests and reuests to discuss things over the 'phone.
He has been advised NOT to disturb native venomous snakes in the wild, yet boasts of how "it's too early in the season to be handling Adders, I wonna (sic) handle a hot!"
He has even had Mark O'Shea giving him advice and has effectively "flipped him the bird"
If this young man changes his ways, I'll eat my Hexarmor Gauntlets.........
