| Hello! As there had been no topic on Oxyuranus microlepidotus I will start with it. My Partner Mario Strasser and me own 1,1 Oxyuranus microlepidotus (CB ´99). Since three years Mario tried to breed them without any success (bad eggs, Incubation got wrong,...). After that he told me to try it and since one year the animals living with me. What can I say? It seems I have more luck with them, our female laid 16 good eggs two weeks ago. Any questions? Best wishes Frank By the way: In this moment (I mean NOW, YET, ...) the taipans are mating again!!! | |

| Hi Frank and Mario. As I checked your first post, time of hatching should be here soon... Could you please give us some update how does eggs look like at the moment? I hope everything is ok with them... Can wait to see pictures of fresh hatched microlepidotus babies in near future... All the best, Peter P. | |

| Update:
As far as I could find information in literature, the incubation should take approximately 73 days, so we still have nearly three weeks to wait for the hatching. I couldn´t find any information on the incubation temperature and cicumstances, but I incubate them at 27,5-28,3°C on coarse grained Vermiculite. At present 15 eggs still look very good, one egg gone bad after 30 days of incubation. The egg above it has a little mildew spot, so maybe the bad egg has had mildew as well and died out of it (I couldn´t see, because they are stuck together in a group of 8 eggs, the other eggs are all seperated). I treat the mildew spot with imaverol every forth day and since that it doesn´t grow any more. Hopefully it stays like that! The eggs grew very well, they are huge, like big chicken eggs! I don´t know what else to say, but if anything happens I keep you guys informed.
Best regards
Frank | |

| Ok Frank, thanks for update... We are incubating eggs of cannies at approx. 29 degrees, and they normally hatch after 60 days. So that`s why I asked you for update now, counting it is the same with microlepidotuses... We will see, maybe hatching is closer as you expect it Anyway, I keep our fingers crossed for good remaining part of incubation! All the best, Peter P. | |

| We incubate both of our Oxyuranus here (microlepidotus & scutellatus) at approx 30degC and both take around 60 days to hatch at that temp. You can get away with temps as low as 27degC with both species but incubation times can extend to 80-85 days. I'll have to post some shots of last seasons hatchling Taipans. We have slightly banded versions of both.
Cheers Nathan | |

| Congrats to you and Frank. Yesterday I called Frank in another matter and there was no hatching in sight. And now it's time. Kind of cryptic... Last year I called a friend waiting for his V.gumprechti's litter and one day after the call, the babies came... Now the Oxyuranus... Think I should work as an oracle Hope I see you soon at "Casa Frank". | |

| As Mario said, two days ago was the big day. Ladies and Gentlemen we VERY proudly present our first bred Oxyuranus microlepidotus! The hatchlings are HUGE, about 45cm (some even larger) and totally nonaggressive. I don´t know what else to say, I´m to happy at this moment. Best regards Frank | |

| Amazing pictures and event, Frank and Mario!!! Huge congratulation from Slovakia, babies looks very nice and healthy... As other eggs are "cut" already as well, I keep my fingers crossed for successful hatching of remaining babies as well... Hope gender ratio will be good as you expect... I can understand your feeling, it`s very rare occassion for sure!!!
All the best, Peter P. | |

| Thanks to all of you for the congrats. As you can imagine we are jumping around all the time ;-) 7 eggs didn´t hatch yet, as they are in a different box in the incubator near the door, where the temperature is a little bit lower than in the back. A couple of minutes ago one of them got slits, so the others should follow within a day. Fingers crossed. As far as I could see the first hatchings should be 4,4, so hopefully it will be nearly the same with the others. In the next days I will make some more photos of them and put them in here.
Best regards

| This has been an interesting topic, very good that someone in Europe has success breeding those. How is the feeding going with those? If i win on the lottery, i might try to get a few | |

| Hi Stefan, all juveniles started feeding from the first time I offered food to them, they are really easy to raise. It´s not more difficult than keeping cornsnakes. Please let me know when you get the lottery jackpot, I think we can arrange a deal... Best regards Frank | |
