Dear Venomland Members and Friends, Venomland is a little more than 6 years old now and by far the biggest Hot Snake community on the Planet! We want to thank all of you who made Venomland the leading Board. We are also very thankful to our Moderators and Admins for years of hard work. Now, it is time to move on. I have been thinking how to proceed and what to do with our beloved board as we reach a size, that we need to make drastic changes to secure the future of our community. As of now, Venomland is hosted by a free (well mostly free) hosting service. That was good for the first years but now we need to find a new way to run our forum. I have spend hundreds of Dollars over the years to keep Venomland up and running, and i have done so with pleasure. Now, we need your help! We need to come up with several thousand dollars for our Venomland 2.0 project, which i frankly cant pay for any longer by myself. So Venomland is asking his Friends and Members for the first time for their financial Support. Please help to keep Venomland alive, and let us move on to a new, better Portal in the Future! Every Dollar is helping us a great deal. I know, its hard times for everyone, but please spare a few Dollar for our community. If you have only 10 Dollars to spare, we are grateful, if it is more, it would be awesome. We are planning to develop a very new Venomland, with real community functions, a forum like you are already loving it and a real (online) Hot Snake Magazin. Also, there will be download areas for scientific papers, Wallpapers and more. Again folks, we can only do that if you all help. Please send me a Private Message if you want to keep Venomland alive, i will provide you with the details on how to donate Money. For now, we can accept money from creditcards via skrill (please google it, its a free service - account-details will be forwarded to you) and paypal. All the best, and for a (hopefully) nice future of our Board. Mario

Hi all

I spent the last few days building my first system on my own. Here is the result.
There are a few things I would do different, mostly for neatness and other subtle differences, but overall Im content.
Its a 4 level system, each level is 1200x600x400, with the bottom 3 levels divided into 2 units. Therefore 600x600x400. I must admit I thought they would be bigger than they actually are so I wouldnt be surprised if I took out the dividers at a later stage and revert back to 1200 cages and just built another unit.

What do you think?

There is 3 more cages to complete so when Im finished I will upload more pics. I think I may also make some changes to the decor above, more ideas Smile

Very nice!

How did you solve the installation of the divider? Are they easy to build in and out? I also built two units one and three years ago and I'm going to build a third one when I have a little snakeroom in the new house in August. I thought about dividers in some of the cages, too. So any informations would be appreciated.

If there is any interest in my units pls ask and I'm going to post some pictures.

Best Regards.

Hi Manuel

Can you see the small white bracket on the far left, in the middle in this pic ...
My new cages Variplug_injection_moulding1

This is what I used. That way it is temporary and can be unscrewed anytime. The first piece is the bracket, the other piece is the cover.

I hope this helps? If you cannot see it for sure I will look for another picture. It is simply a 90degree plastic bracket with 2 holes on each leg.

Regards

Hi Rob , Where do you find the xeropaga rests most of the time , does she wedge herself into those small slate retreats at all ?

Hi Rob,
the cages looks relly nice and neat. And I think eventually you will remove divider and make them bigger. I always prefer bigger terrariums, you have more room to decorate them more naturaly. I have too many snakes and if I would start from scratch, I would have less snakes and larger terrariums. But I still try to have them big! :-))
Here is for example my caudalis terrarium size 100x40x40cm where I keep my 1.1 and Aspidelaps lubricus lubricus where I keep 2.1 one year old - size 40x40x40cm.My new cages Caudal19

Andrew - They probably spend as much time out basking as they do in the rock cracks. They definately identify preferable spots though and utilize that most of the time.

Neven - Yes I agree bigger cages are better which is why I did not screw or seal the dividers in. I will take them out in the future but will need to build more cages first. Also space is an issue for me, I have a small area I can use so need to be wise.
Im not 100% happy with my cage decor but for now it is ok, I will give more thought to it when the season warms up.
I have a small collection luckily, only maybe 20 snakes, so it is manageable. Although there is always new additions Smile
