| Thats kind of stuff we definitely DONT need here in Germany:(
Little Translation.
Some guys go down in the woods in Niehl(germany) to collect mushrooms and find on a grassland an rattlesnake. They call the Police and then the police called the firerescue as they have a animal catcher. Now the snake is in an rescue station for animals.

| Serious problem again. At least three cases of absolutely unserious hot-keepers around us in just six months: An escaped cobra in Mühlheim, several dead and alive rattlesnakes and pythons left behind in an empty farmhouse near Gütersloh, and finally rattlesnakes in the woods of Cologne. Thanks so much guys, that's what we need in the papers all the time. F***!

| I often feel envious of keepers in the unregulated German states for their freedom.... but at this rate, that is not going to last much longer!
What a bunch of f***wits!

| Reminds me of the wonderful group of nitwits here in the states that let loose burmese python in the florida everglades not to mention the idiot that sold a gaboon viper over the phone to a 12 yr old kid without parents concent. Or the genius in texas that got drunk and wanted to show off to his buddies his 5.5 ft. Canebrake rattler and got bit and died 24 hours later. These are the cause of the downfall of what means the most to us. Its almost like there should be an IQ and common sense test before your allowed to keep hots. |

| Yes, Timothy, that´s the point (an IQ and common sense test before your allowed to keep hots).
Where I live (Styria / Austria) you may have to build terraria with unbreakable glass in a room that is escape-safe even if an earthquake would happen,..... But you may be an idiot of any kind, be drunk, ... most of the time, they cannot refuse to give you the permit for these reasons.
No more comment necessary, I think, Rainer

Yes, outside, of course. One (450 cm) was found in someones garden, the other one (380 cm) has been hooked by a fisherman........... http://www.swr.de/nachrichten/bw/-/id=1622/nid=1622/did=6807808/g0wcy/index.html http://www.bild.de/BILD/news/leserreporter/aktuell/tiere/2010/09/07/1414-tiere-netzpython/tot-aus-der-blies-gezogen.html Fortunately, no innocent outsider has been injured - but it's only a question of time.........such a worst case scenario could finish the legal private keeping of venomous or dangerous animals. | Into the A** would be bad enough, not even thinking about a bite into the balls ... I think the keepers should take the momentum theirself and try to get a bit stricter laws by initiative. Just to avoid a complete prohibition triggered by politicians (the next election is always in sight). What about a "snake drivers license" system? A couple of years of nonvenomous snakekeeping as a necessity, some knowledge, 18 years of age and a stable psyche? We already have something similiar for dangerous dogs here in Austria.

| On the other hand, if you are going to get bitten on the @r$e or b@££$, then a Cape cobra would be a good choice. Imagine if it was a Naja nigricollis.... | |

Arrrgh ... was that necessary, Wolfgang? No. But a life confined to mere necessities would be very boring
