| One of the things that always fascinated me about snakes is their remarkable camouflage, and this species is no exception! Virtually invisable in the forest, it just looks as if it's a lichen covered part of a tree! Does it occur in a large area, and does it possess a potent venom? I'd expect accidents to be uncommon, is there an antivenin? | |

Greatings, Arjan. Thx Arjan, Inka Forest Pit Viper, is the temperament quiet, good feeder (like mice) in special the female..The male is more complicated at starting. The sp likes the cold temperature (20 - 25 ºC), high humity. I observed green black, high yellow, more blue in sides.. Greetings from Inkas´land...yeahhhh | |

Michael Hi Michael, I don´t collect this snake. The snake is of the serpentarium (National Health Institute), and my friend send me two males the last year. The locality is Oxapampa. Is very common the Inka Forest Pit Viper in that city. Greetings - Jaroslav Karhanek wrote:

Hi April, the snake has a potent venom, hemotoxic, necrose, pain, hemorragic, but is very difficult the snakebite..This specie is very calm... In Perú, my Institute produce the Antibotropic antivenom (For Bothrops atrox, B barnetti, B pictus, B brazilii and Bothrocophias hyprora), but the antivenom neutralized the venom of the Inka Forest Pit Viper and anothers arboreals snakes...
