| Yesterday i observed the second successful mating for this year. First out was my V.ammodytes but i didn't have the camera available. But this time i had 1/3 of the way done, mating. Now i hope for some viable eggs and then a successful hatching. Any tips in how to care for their eggs would be nice. I have heard both that they shall be hard to hatch and that they should not be that hard to successfully hatch. Regards Daniel | |

| Hello Daniel, no worry! I have incubate eggs from M. schweizeri like every other eggs! I used Vermiculite for the job. I set my incubator to 28°C daytime and drop the temps at night to 25°C. I have used this in: M.l.lebetina, M.l. turanica, M. l. obtusa and M. schweizeri also. It has also worked in M. mauritanica, C.cerates & W.aegyptia... and some SE-asian colubrids. The hatching quote by M. schweizeri was 100% (like in M. mauritanica nd M.l.obtusa).

| Peter: Thanks for that information, it gives me some peace of mind. It is about the same settings i use for hatching my Z.situla eggs.
Some minor tweaks and i will be ready for the eggs.

| Hi Daniel,
my lebetinas or also the schweizeri needs after mating around 50-60 days. It will depend on temperature! Normaly the female will shed before droping the eggs. You will notice that it will be very active and search the day for a good place to drop them! | |

| First clutch from these started to hatch july 21 and today all of them are out of the eggs. All good eggs hatched and 6 little healthy Milos vipers are now separated. I had no luck sexing them by looking at the tails. So sexing has to wait a little until i feel comfortable probing them. Regards Daniel | |

| Hi Daniel, congratulations! Nice to see this youngsters. I think, to sex them by looking at the lenght of the tail is ok, but I have try it with my Macrovipera´s like this way: Put them in a clear smal plastic Box, maby together or only two or three, than look from the bottom side under them, to look from above is not so easy to seperate them. Not only the lenght of the tail makes it, the shape also! Good luck with them! | |
