A nice and competend guy, which get a friend of us .

Thank you all for your condolences, I have pass them to his family and friends. Pedja really was a special person. I have returned home late last night from his funeral and spending two days with his family and friends. Pedja lived in a small town of some 3-4.000 people some 40km south of Belgrade. Nedless to say it was extremelly sad two days.... but after meeting his entire family and friends he grew up with I realise why he was such a wonderful person and tremendous human beeing.

The whole period was even more stressed because someone called officials and police came to his house less than 12 hours after he died in order to talk to family about taking his snakes right away!! I had a police officer following me there because local police officers got command from Belgrade that his "Croatia friend" came down to collect his snakes!? That was all before he was even buried, day after he died! Someone was trying to get a hold of his snakes bad! While I was there I contacted some people I know that work in different government offices regarding animal welfare and told them to give family a breaka and some time to buried their son. I was told that the snakes will be given to Belgrade Zoo without any compensation to his family which I told them it is idiotic since I know how much love, time and money he have put into his collection and that they should compenscate his family somehow. Especially if the snakes go to Belgrade zoo. At the end I told them I will be very intereste to see who will take out and pack his huge Bitis gabonica, Bitis arietans, Crotalus molossus nigrescens.... since his terrariums are very natural decorated and it taked an expert to see what kind of snakes is in there. In his schlegelli terrarium for example there may be 2 or 5 animals, it is hard to say until you start to slowly move plants and branches...
Upon my return to Zagreb last night I got email from a person from Serbian ministry of Agriculture asking for my number to contact me. We spoke on the phone today, he is a very nice guy, apparently not from the same line who are trying badly to get a hold of Pedja snakes, and he asked for my advice and assistance regarding Pedja's snakes. So as it looks like now, I will have to travel back to Pedja parents and assist the Serbian government in dealing with his snakes.
Very strange situation... we will see what will happen and how this whole situation will end..

This is so sad. i did not have the pleasure to meet or get to know Predrag, Bur what i understand is that he was a special guy and a tru animal lover.
I cant express my feeling in words to describe this.

Dear Albert, thank you for the information. Good to know the animals in the end found their profession in education, showing people the beauty in the beast. Just curious about the planned cooperation of Zagreb Zoo with the Serum Depot Berlin e.V. - no idea if there was a depot closer to Zadar than the one in Munic. Anyway, good luck to the project, may it be successful in every respect, and - last but not least - remember people to the former keeper.
