| Some population of C. albolabris from Thailand have also reddish eyes and on the Hainan island of China you can find them with dark red eyes. Btw. nice female you got there | |

unfortunately not, Arthur. I've got it from a VenomLand member by e-mail, but lost it because of a computer crash. I'll have to ask this member to send it again..... see also here: http://www.venomland.net/t4987-taxonomic-changing-in-asian-pitvipers regards Peter

That is hard to say Matt, while those animals on the market are not always 100% pure locality. Thanks Peter for the information, I didn`t know that they are back in the Trimeresurus genus, so I am also interested on those papers

| @ Matt:
You can´t make a sure difinition where are the snake from. It´s a real pity, but in such species like ,,T. albolabris´´ you found such a variety of coloration of eyes and also body, and you can´t fix a location about the color of the eyes. But, mostly the ,,albolabris´´ here in europe comes from Thailand. Some times they was exported also from Indonesia. On Java you can found ,,albolaris´´ with red, reddish and yello eyes. In Thailnd and Cambodia you can also found such colored eyes too. My pers. opinion is, that there are some good species hidden in the ,, albolabris´´ Group. Specialy when you compare albolabris from some locations from Vietnam. The have some head markings, that looks a little bit starge to me. Shape of the head is also not everywhere the same in this ,,species´´ sometimes more like an egg, sometimes more sharp edged with a triangular head.... Future will tell us more, when a lot of work is done in this ,,species- group´´. Your looks to me like an typical ,,albolabris´´ - a nice and good looking one too, but no idee about the origin of them. My first vote will be for a Thai speciemen, not not for sure. Only an Idee. Hainan will be in my opinion not possible, because this is a very special Location, and when there comes snakes from this island, the former keeper will know that very good!
