Dear Venomland Members and Friends, Venomland is a little more than 6 years old now and by far the biggest Hot Snake community on the Planet! We want to thank all of you who made Venomland the leading Board. We are also very thankful to our Moderators and Admins for years of hard work. Now, it is time to move on. I have been thinking how to proceed and what to do with our beloved board as we reach a size, that we need to make drastic changes to secure the future of our community. As of now, Venomland is hosted by a free (well mostly free) hosting service. That was good for the first years but now we need to find a new way to run our forum. I have spend hundreds of Dollars over the years to keep Venomland up and running, and i have done so with pleasure. Now, we need your help! We need to come up with several thousand dollars for our Venomland 2.0 project, which i frankly cant pay for any longer by myself. So Venomland is asking his Friends and Members for the first time for their financial Support. Please help to keep Venomland alive, and let us move on to a new, better Portal in the Future! Every Dollar is helping us a great deal. I know, its hard times for everyone, but please spare a few Dollar for our community. If you have only 10 Dollars to spare, we are grateful, if it is more, it would be awesome. We are planning to develop a very new Venomland, with real community functions, a forum like you are already loving it and a real (online) Hot Snake Magazin. Also, there will be download areas for scientific papers, Wallpapers and more. Again folks, we can only do that if you all help. Please send me a Private Message if you want to keep Venomland alive, i will provide you with the details on how to donate Money. For now, we can accept money from creditcards via skrill (please google it, its a free service - account-details will be forwarded to you) and paypal. All the best, and for a (hopefully) nice future of our Board. Mario

I was wondering if anyone here is working with nubian spitting cobras? I have acquired a few wild caught adults and really enjoy them.

Congratulations. What location cobras? Some time ago, I had one individual females. She was not aggressive, which makes me a total surprise. But it can not be because of trapping, unlike yours. Watch out for the eyes. In my case without plastic visor up, there were some, in addition, these cobras are very smart. Several times I went off the hook when I was sure that I keep it firmly and controls. You show some pictures?

I'm not sure of the local. I have 2.2 wild caught adults now. 1.1 are really laid back. Calmer than a corn snake. The others give me a hard time. They fly off the hook without warning. They usually only spit after I clean the cage and put them back in. Then they spit at the plexiglass glass front. But they are not that bad with spitting. 1.1 copulated and the female went off feed so I'm hoping for eggs??? I like them a lot. Here in the USA not too many people have them.

Typically, these individuals are aggressive with trapping. Although by. I was also the nature of the serpent. I had snakes that were to be aggressive and be quiet, and vice versa, hoses and quiet of nature were very aggressive. How copulated it might be something to do with this, good thing the little cobra. Amazing they are so small. All the more as you wrote, that a small group has Nubian Cobras, so you will not have a problem with a possible sale. If eggs after mating will watch it and follow the temperature behavior of the female.

Yes thank God they are small. If they were 3 meeters I'd soil my pants.

We'll I house them on brown paper for substrate, a hide box bowl of water and 78f to 82f degrees. I have 2.2 I feed them f/t mice or chicks alternating each time I feed them. They are a real nice attractive cobra. Sometimes one of my males can be hard to work with. He's a good climber and really smart.

Here a kick pic of one of my juvenile Nubian Spitting Cobras
Nubian spitting cobras Nubiae10

For now they are quite nervous when handeled. They do not ride very well on the hook.
Regarding their spitting bevaviour, they readilly spat at me the first 3 weeks. Now they rarely spit at all.

They have outgrown their juvenile tubs. They are now housed seperated in small grow-up enclosures :

They are quiet shy for now but very beautifull animals.

I have 1:2 Nubians at present and keep them on aspen and at 77 night to 82 day temp. 1:1 only eat mice, the other female will only eat small rats - all F/T or freshly killed. Secretive and spend the day in hide boxes and emerge at night to feed. Spitting less and less now - interestingly the venom seems more viscous than other spitters I have (like pallida and nigricincta). Nice snakes - fairly easy to work with. Definitely shy compared with most other cobras I have. Brian what substrate are you using?

I'm using a mix of desert bedding + peat + cactus soil.
