Dear Venomland Members and Friends, Venomland is a little more than 6 years old now and by far the biggest Hot Snake community on the Planet! We want to thank all of you who made Venomland the leading Board. We are also very thankful to our Moderators and Admins for years of hard work. Now, it is time to move on. I have been thinking how to proceed and what to do with our beloved board as we reach a size, that we need to make drastic changes to secure the future of our community. As of now, Venomland is hosted by a free (well mostly free) hosting service. That was good for the first years but now we need to find a new way to run our forum. I have spend hundreds of Dollars over the years to keep Venomland up and running, and i have done so with pleasure. Now, we need your help! We need to come up with several thousand dollars for our Venomland 2.0 project, which i frankly cant pay for any longer by myself. So Venomland is asking his Friends and Members for the first time for their financial Support. Please help to keep Venomland alive, and let us move on to a new, better Portal in the Future! Every Dollar is helping us a great deal. I know, its hard times for everyone, but please spare a few Dollar for our community. If you have only 10 Dollars to spare, we are grateful, if it is more, it would be awesome. We are planning to develop a very new Venomland, with real community functions, a forum like you are already loving it and a real (online) Hot Snake Magazin. Also, there will be download areas for scientific papers, Wallpapers and more. Again folks, we can only do that if you all help. Hi Nate,

thgi looks a like a southern ammodytes form. Like Lake Scutari or Ada Island / Montenegro. But you can find such looking ammodytes along the coastline of former ,,Yugoslavia´´ at other spots too. So a 100% defination is nearly impossible.

Thank you Peter for the feed back...I some what suspected lake Scutari but I understand that it is nearly impossible to guess the locality, I just thought that maybe there was some kind if tell tail sign that would make it possible to get a near exact local.

Hi Nate,

,,Lake Scutari'' is more a marketing name now. In the past some vipers comes realy from the soroundings of this very large lake in the border region of Albania and Montenegro.
But over the years, a lot of vipers was collected around in Montenegro, and this looks not differend to the origin ones. I think, there's no difference! There is a very high diversity of differend colors in this part of distribution. You found nearly all colors of the taxon ammodytes. Not only the very colorfull ones, you can find in the same area also typical gray ones, that looks not like ,,lake Skutari''
More noth in Slovenia, you have also spots with reddish and yellowish ammodytes, named ,,Novo Mestro'' but in Croatia and Serbia you find also colorfull ones and and and...
I have hear from prople that mixed locations, to get more and more yello or red ones. They priduce more a color breeding line than a location breeding line. Not the best idee I think.

Peter, that is exactly how i am with crotalus atrox. they seem to be looked at as more of a trash snake than any thing where i live. I am absolutely in love with C.atrox tho. I think its there impressive size,massive head,attitude and reputation that i am attracted to. my collection is mainly rattlesnakes  but no matter how many of the various  crotalus and sistrurus i acquire ,the collection never feels complete with out a nice big impressive C.atrox....this is buba, my massive C.atrox. He is well over 5ft and huge around...I would say the best thing to compare his girth to would be a size 12 boot or shoe. He is not over weight he is just built very thick and stout...I would say 11 inches around his body.....here's a bad cell phone picture
