Hi Fabian , excellent choice I am delighted to see someone with this snakes on the forum ! tiger snakes are amazing and beautiful animals..
Yours is looking like the east african specimens?
It took me 12 months of force feeding pinks to this specimens below , now they are eating fine.
From my experience the east african specimens is eating mice easier.

I don´t really know the locality, but she looks different to yours.
She takes easilly mice. I hope to get a group from south africa this year, maybe with some Telescopus beetzi.

Do you only keep them on sand?
My female seems to be semi-aboreal, which is sometimes described in literature.
Sometimes they only speek of ground-living.

I have no idea how I missed this thread in my skimming through the forums......

I really like Telescopus as well and presently keep a couple T. s. semiannulatus myself. I got my first pair a few years ago, though they both didn't last very long. The female did lay eight eggs the day after landing in Canada from Tanzania, but it looked like they were retained too long and went bad quickly. She started eating unscented fuzzy mice shortly there after and then died. The male followed soon behind.

A little over a year ago I got two more and they are still going strong, the only bad part is they're both males. These guys started on lizards for me (Anolis carolinensis) and after a couple of months switched to scented mice pinks and are recently on unscented pinks.

I'll have to dig up some pictures to share. It's difficult to tell from pictures, but how big are both of yours? The female that laid eggs here couldn't have been more than 30" total length, and I think that's a stretch.

My female has also 30 inch. No problems with her yet. Eating fine unscentened mice and rats.

Now I have 2.1 adult Telescopus semiannulatus and 6 juveniles.

Today I started the first attempt of feeding:
All juveniles eat mouse! 3 without problems ( seems to be the technique )
2 of the adulte to the same ( I know from the former owner )
The female I have not tested, will try it tomorrow.

I think these are DWA Scheduled over here....They are absolutely gorgeous, however.

I think it is like the Boiga venom, contains neurotoxic components.

DWA means Dangerous Wild Animals. You need a Dangerous Wild Animals lisence in the UK for most venomous species of reptile, which was intruduced with the Dangerous Wild Animals Act back in the 1970s to keep certain animals which are concidered as a danger to the public if escaped from their enclosures.

The vast majority of venomous snakes are scheduled under the Act, there are quite a lot of Rear-fanged that arenot though.

Telescopus sps. are not covered by the UK DWA schedule, so no license is required to keep them Wink

The venom of this snake is very mild and of absolutely no concern to people unless the person has specific allergies.

Not according to Bryan Fry. He once told me that Telescopus venom is deadly. Of course I dont believe him but then again, Im just Rob Deans.

I have to correct!
I talked to Dr. Fry certain times. The venom is as toxic as the most venoms!
Telescopus dhara have huge glands and a rel. large amount, but the delivery system and the fangs are not good as vipers/elapids or Dispholidus typus.
So it means to me the venom is maybe deadly, but not the snake
