| These are my miniture bushmasters... Some other ambush-hunters. I kept gabonica's in the past and couldn't imagine more lazy slackers... Well, here they are ! Male: Female, they are so sluggish; I help them to a waterbowl every little now and then... Afraid they will run dry... Gr., Pascal. | |

| Thank you guys ! Ronny, you will find pleasure in keeping this species; although they show almost no activity... From Holland you say ? Nice ! Show us some pictures in time... Meanwile, here's a bonus: female: Both, (left is the male and at the right the female) don't worry, there was no activity... I had to force them to drink.

| Hey Pascal,
I remembered this post: nice to see my mini-bushmasters in the internet. I see they were living together. What it is the actual size of that terrarium? Now they are in a 90x80x50, do you think is OK? Very nice species. Now I need to get a couple of A. nummifer.

| Hi Israel ! First of all I must appologise for answering your post that late... But your enclosure sounds great ! Bigger then my which is only 70x50x50 cm. How are your animals doing ? I hope fine but I assume they will be without any problems... Here are some pictures of the litter your Atro's are from: They immediately shed after birth. 20cm. (8") long and 11 grams 'heavy'... Gr., Pascal. | |

| Hi Pascal, Nice pictures, thanks! The couple is doing fine, but they move almost nothing . Awesome lazy snakes. In fact I am going to put them in smaller individual terrariums of 60x60 (floor area), roughly the same as yours, and keep the bigger terrarium for a more mobile species. I also put them to drink at least once a week, because they only coil and wait, coil and wait...but man, when they strike to bite the (defrosted) prey is truly impressive (I uploaded pictures in the photography area some time ago). I am very happy with this species! | |

I warned you Israel... I'm happy that they are fine. Moving them to a smaller enclosure will be no problem; you can almost keep them in a shoebox. @Walter: thanx for the compliments... Here are some more pics. for you: Kindergarten: Male (after lunch)

| I've noticed that they have a certain daily program; especially the female crawls to the front part of her terrarium in the morning, retreating to hide to the back later on the day. Sometimes she even remembers to drink on the way... Otherwise they are extremely sluggish. Even bushmasters make occasional trips investigating their gages but Atropoides...nah. | |

What an excersise ! I wonder what you are feeding your Atro's Janne ? Yes, maybe the Atropoides is taking some coffee in the morning... She has a over-activity syndrome (just joking)

| It can be in the water; she realized at some point, that there is water in the big bowl. It is possible that it is just a drinking routine... Sometimes she explodes there lightning speed, dives to the bowl like a seal, and jumps on the air through a cloud of sparkling crystal water droplets. My God, it's beautiful. NOW THAT'S SARCASM!

| I've been told that it was Mr. Joe Beraducci who first said that everyone(meaning all snake keepers)should have at least one Atropoides in their collection. (I wouldn't give up my specimen for all the money in the world.) Great Thread and photos, Mr. Kamp. Thanks for posting this. Good luck with the neonates. Sincerely, Jon Davidson . | |
