Dear Venomland Members and Friends, Venomland is a little more than 6 years old now and by far the biggest Hot Snake community on the Planet! We want to thank all of you who made Venomland the leading Board. We are also very thankful to our Moderators and Admins for years of hard work. Now, it is time to move on. I have been thinking how to proceed and what to do with our beloved board as we reach a size, that we need to make drastic changes to secure the future of our community. As of now, Venomland is hosted by a free (well mostly free) hosting service. That was good for the first years but now we need to find a new way to run our forum. I have spend hundreds of Dollars over the years to keep Venomland up and running, and i have done so with pleasure. Now, we need your help! We need to come up with several thousand dollars for our Venomland 2.0 project, which i frankly cant pay for any longer by myself. So Venomland is asking his Friends and Members for the first time for their financial Support. Please help to keep Venomland alive, and let us move on to a new, better Portal in the Future! Every Dollar is helping us a great deal. I know, its hard times for everyone, but please spare a few Dollar for our community. If you have only 10 Dollars to spare, we are grateful, if it is more, it would be awesome. We are planning to develop a very new Venomland, with real community functions, a forum like you are already loving it and a real (online) Hot Snake Magazin. Also, there will be download areas for scientific papers, Wallpapers and more. Again folks, we can only do that if you all help. Please send me a Private Message if you want to keep Venomland alive, i will provide you with the details on how to donate Money. For now, we can accept money from creditcards via skrill (please google it, its a free service - account-details will be forwarded to you) and paypal. All the best, and for a (hopefully) nice future of our Board. Mario

My first post in this section... Thought I'd share an image of a super nice snake.

Most well represented non-venomous snake in my collection, and one I've long had a passion for, is C. hortulanus.
I have some 50/50 projects with my best friend, and from such we got 2 litters last year.
This awesome little gem was born in one of those, hope you enjoy... Smile

Thanks a lot guys, glad you liked Smile

Mikael, it does look like a candycane, doesn't it?
Four sheds since birth, and it keeps getting better, no sign of changing into more 'normal' or usual coloration. At birth it had more purple tones, but it's still got incredible colors.

Yes, Johan, you are right about them being awesome snakes.
Even though they get to about 2m in length, they are quite slim and don't take up too much space. Granted, you could house more arboreal vipers in the same space, but still Very Happy

They can also be handled, even though they may have a bit of an attitude, at least at times. But in my experience they are not as bad a biters as they're reputation sometimes would lead you to believe. And me, well I like some attitude Wink

One attribute that definitely increases the interest of working with them is the fact that they, too, are polymorphic. I do have a thing for such snakes Smile

Here's another cool one, from the same litter as the first one. After this one shed for the first time, this almost white bald spot appeared on another side of it's head. Pretty cool.
And exciting, should all go well down the road, as I can't wait to see if that trait might be passed on to it's offspring.

Hi Stephan.

Here's the father (owned by my friend)
Special ATB P1040944-1

And here's the mother. From my second ATB litter ever, born in 12/02.
Special ATB P1030578

And here's yet another extremely nice baby from the same litter as the previous two. All three are hold-backs, of course Wink
Special ATB P1050877

Ah, what the heck, here's the fourth and final hold-back from this litter as well. Truly nice variation among them, huh? Couldn't be happier Very Happy

very nice holdbacks , let me know if you get babys like that again ;o)
but seeing the parents wich look like normal garden phase to me it proofes the fact that corallus species are allways a bag of surprises

Thank you.

I will let you know if more like these will be born. In fact, maybe tomorrow the same pair will be introduced to each other, we'll see...
Hopefully they'd produce another nice litter Smile

As a matter of fact, this male...

Special ATB P1050734

...and this female...

Special ATB P1050738

...are from the same litter, and still available Wink

I hope mentioning that won't violate any rules.
