BRUNO 1968 described Vipera ammodytes ruffoi as an own subspecies, which belongs to Vipera ammodytes ammodytes now, URSENBACHER et al. (2008)... They only occur in south tyrol, in the area around Bolzano and are quite endangered, from what I know... another picture of the "ruffoi"-male  and for comparison: Vipera ammodytes ammodytes ("gregorwallneri": Friesach, carinthia)  Vipera ammodytes ammodytes ("illyrica": Villach, carinthia)  regards Markus | |
