Please beware, to register at venomland you are requested to use your full name (first and family name) - nicknames are not allowed and will be not activated! thx Dear Venomland Members and Friends, Venomland is a little more than 6 years old now and by far the biggest Hot Snake community on the Planet! We want to thank all of you who made Venomland the leading Board. We are also very thankful to our Moderators and Admins for years of hard work. Now, it is time to move on. I have been thinking how to proceed and what to do with our beloved board as we reach a size, that we need to make drastic changes to secure the future of our community. As of now, Venomland is hosted by a free (well mostly free) hosting service. That was good for the first years but now we need to find a new way to run our forum. I have spend hundreds of Dollars over the years to keep Venomland up and running, and i have done so with pleasure. Now, we need your help! We need to come up with several thousand dollars for our Venomland 2.0 project, which i frankly cant pay for any longer by myself. So Venomland is asking his Friends and Members for the first time for their financial Support. Please help to keep Venomland alive, and let us move on to a new, better Portal in the Future! Every Dollar is helping us a great deal. I know, its hard times for everyone, but please spare a few Dollar for our community. If you have only 10 Dollars to spare, we are grateful, if it is more, it would be awesome. We are planning to develop a very new Venomland, with real community functions, a forum like you are already loving it and a real (online) Hot Snake Magazin. Also, there will be download areas for scientific papers, Wallpapers and more. Again folks, we can only do that if you all help. Please send me a Private Message if you want to keep Venomland alive, i will provide you with the details on how to donate Money. For now, we can accept money from creditcards via skrill (please google it, its a free service - account-details will be forwarded to you) and paypal. All the best, and for a (hopefully) nice future of our Board. Mario

In my view, this is certainly something to consider. As I'm sure you know, snakes are very sensitive creatures, especially to vibrations. Also, adequate ventilation is another thing that comes to mind. Some great cages though, and some nice specimens. Thanks for posting this, Mr. Ang. By the way, do you have any updates on any of your Homalopsid projects? Sincerely, Jon Davidson .

| That a very nice looking room, with great enclosures
I agree with Davidson about the music. It could be detrimental to the more sensitive species, such as the B. dentrophila. I remember the ones I've kept were very nervous, and stopped feeding if disturbed.

| Hello Alexander, Yes the cages look realy nice, like a part taken out of the Jungle. For your Swamp Habitat, its very difficult to see, where the animal is. If its a venomous Snake inside, its hard for you to worke inside the cage and find the animal. And wrong is : 2.2.0 Tropidolaemus subannulatus no you have 2,2 (two pairs) Tropidolaemus subannulatus if you write 0,0,1, so the sex is unknown but you know the sex 2,2 = two pairs. No so bad,you have to learn this also. And yes I agree with the other guys, drumming ect. want be nice(for your Snakes) inside the Room. Regards Hans | |

| Wow, I'm getting lots of important feedback... Thank you so much... I was kinda concerned about the band + reptiles and in vertebrates being pummeled by the vibrations. The good thing is we only rehearse at most once a week and for a duration of two hours at most. But here's a kinda 'funny' but honest to God, true story... The first time I housed the Tropidolaenmus with the two boys, her reaction was mostly rejective... the first time I saw them mating was when the band took a break in the middle of rehearsing. The AC was on which infers a sudden drop in temp. But I jokingly told my guitarist that if the reptiles were getting anything from our music playing it must be 'good vibrations.' But in all seriousness I'm very aware of their sensitivity to such things. Mr Davidson (Sir) [bow emote] I have yet to revive my Homalopsinae project but currently I have no specimens. I do know a coastal place couple of miles north of Kuching where there's a seaside restaurant hanging over the mangroves which apparently is swarming with Cerberus rynchops... and hopefully other species of Homalopsinae. I will post something once I get any headway in that area. Hans, you are very right... I know that cluttering an enclosure with too much decor can make working with venomous snakes a cumbersome and potentially dangerous task. But the trade off is that the snakes feel much better in their enclosures as they can easily find a comfortable nook to hide. the B. dendrophila is much more comfortable in its new home and always squeezes itself among the base of the fake ferns. To work around, this that I've custom-fashioned some snake hooks and prods of various sizes to aid in managing the snakes during maintenance and check up transfers. Additionally, I'm not working with any fast-moving elapids at them moment, but I will work that into consideration when setting up an enclosure for one. But managing the vipers in their intricately twig-woven enclosure is not particularly difficult. Guys thanks so much for you're feedback it's given a lot for me to think of and work on. | |

| BTW Does anyone have any experience with breeding Tropidolaemus? I could really use some pointers on what a probably gravid viper needs for proper development of the embryos... | |
