| Thanks, only throw them out there on nice sunny days. Keep all my adult adders in tubs but now have 900mm cages for them, i think they like the extra room than what they had in tubs & have a good wander around in the "playpen" resulting in some thanks in the last pic lol. | |

| Hi Nigel, a very nice red antarcticus you have there! Outside the have much more brighter color I think. Sometimes when I have seen snakes in the wild, and then, after the are catched and in Vivarians the are not so nice than before. I don´t know why, but maby the real sun makes the colors more visible to my eyes. | |

| Love it Nigel & nice turdshot btw ! Its amazing how big they get I didn't realize it until mine did not stop growing , for me the bigger these guys get THE BETTER !! Like can you imagine an A.pyrrhus the size of a Gaboon ? HOLY HELL @! I seen some monster Barkleys ! What you rekon is the largest growing locality ? | |

| Andrew I would say the largest death adders are from the Barkly Tableland (in Australia). I have seen one captive-bred Barkly which was 1.2m long, and I have heard of them getting marginally bigger. The 1.2m Barkly had a head the size of an average man's fist and it was, predictably, a female.
Nigel Nice adders, and I like the pit. I have photos of a female of mine which I suspect is gravid and she is HUGELY distended toward the rear end (I will post pics later) - yours doesn't look like that at present, but she may be on the way. You're in the best position to tell as you would have seen her pre-mating season and would know her usual shape. She just doesn't look heavy enough toward the rear end yet, but that may be because it was a late mating and she isn't near term yet. Good luck!

| Hey Nigel,
I bred this form two years ago (take a look at the topic "Oh happy day", I accidently thought my animals would be from Brisbane, but obviously they are from Sidney), and my two females looked much fatter towards the tail at the end of the pregnancy. So your female might be pregnant, but if she is, it still takes some time until she dropps. Anyway, very nice animals. Good luck!
Best regards

| Nigel As mentioned in my previous post, I have a female which I think is gravid. See pics below. Compare her last third of body to the one you have. Very different. Not saying yours is not gravid, but must be in earlier stage. Mine is almost certianly gravid, and now I have discovered I have another that is probably gravid as well. I am going to have to invest in a few tubs!! | |

| Nice death adder Simon.. Do you know when precisely yours mated ? Looks like the gestation is short for these guys ....4 months or so ? | |

I didn't spot them mating this time and introduced a male into her cage on a couple of occaisons. However, I have previously bred these and believe the gestation period is closer to 5 months, maybe a touch shorter.

| Sorry guy's just got back from holiday in Queensland, Simon yeah she don't look large compared to your pics, let's hope it's early stages (fingers crossed). Oh Simon if you find the investment of new tubs is too expensive then i will be only to happy to relieve you of some of the forth coming babies! Cheers. | |

| Nigel, exceptional creatures, about 15 years ago i had the priveledge of working with Acanthophis pyrrhus and A. antarcticus i find breeding the latter quite straight foward .
i was as well impressed at the large size that the specimens of A.pyrrhus the "DESERT DEATH ADDER" attained something very close to your description and so also seems correct to assume that your specimen is gravid congratulations.
Incedently i found it horrifying starting the babies on pinky parts for one year as i didnt want to chance parasites with lizards or frogs etc. so perhaps thats what you can be planning for , looks like the litter will be large and healthy as of your photographs excellent . Albert
