| I have to agree with the comments, doesnt look like any Namibian cornuta Ive ever seen, and looks like many Namaqualand cornuta Ive seen. Jean Henrie how can you be so sure if you did not collect the adults yourself? Here is a pic of typical baby Namibian cornuta (Luderitz) (Photo by Craig Van Rensburg) | |

| Easy species to keep, not too hard to breed, and venom only making you wish you were dead. The perfect venomous pet snake. I believe these snakes are here to stay like ball pythons. | |

| Hi Walter
They are one of the easiest Bitis to keep I have found over the years. Given enough heat and lowish humidity then these snakes will thrive and breed. They are hardy and respiratory disease seem to be one of the very few issues with these snakes, if any.
Their temperaments are very very short and their feeding responses are very strong! Given the first chance they will hang onto your fingers. The venom is strong enough to cause serious and permanent damage so they are dangerous animals but not really deadly in the true sense.
Thats last pic of JH Pastore does not look South-African to me but what the heck. An argument for another day.

| MH - From which Namibian locale have you seen cornuta which looked like the ones shown here?
I have seen huge variability in SA cornuta and only slight variation in Namibian ones, none of which looked remotely like this one, nor the babies. Ive seen coastal SA cornuta which look just like this mother.
My opinion is based on my personal experience, if you have evidence showing otherwise Id be very keen to see it.
JHP - What do you mean? Did Alfred say that there were 2 possible fathers? 1 SA and 1 Namibian? | |

No i would say that there are different bloodline on the male and the female, but i have no more precisions..... In fact, there is no consangunity, not more. About the fathers localities, i have no precisions, just fathers are not the same.
