| Hi,
very nice setups. Did you build it by your own? Could you explain how the cages are build and which materials are used?
Best regards, Sebastian | |

| Hi Sebastian
Thanks... Yes I make these myself.
The cages are made out of polyethylene plastic. I have 2 sizes - 950mm(h)x500mm(w)x500mm(d) and 500mm(h)x1000mm(w)x500mm(d)
The front has aluminium braces for the glass hinged doors. The bottom is completely waterproof - holds the plant water reservoir The top has a recessed area for the light the light shines through a prismatic lens. There is also a misting nozzle at the top and the pipes run through channels to the back of the unit.

| Thanks Jan The tanks are made using a rotational moulding process. I then fit the glass, aluminium trim and light lenses after I get the raw tank.

| I bought a lucky reptile mister for misting but it was in adequate for 30 tanks so just used those nozzles and a bigger pump. The last one is a male Dispholidus typus here is a pic of the back ![Some of my setup and the inhabitants DSC00179](https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-JP8yWc8ZQ3M/SvQHngVtTqI/AAAAAAAABC4/8xazVgbqag8/s512/DSC00179.JPG) and the section where the light goes - this one I have not cut out the opening for the prismatic lens. ![Some of my setup and the inhabitants DSC00180](https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-yyjsbgsb4RQ/SvQHoA61CwI/AAAAAAAABC8/9rkht30rKns/s640/DSC00180.JPG) | |

| Hi Brad,
I really like the cages where the snakes are able to completely hide between the bushes. This is how I try to decorate my paludarium too. Unfortunately, when snakes do well and grow up, there will be a moment that a delicately planted paludarium is not a good place any more for havier snakes and I have to build a terrarium with more robust plantation. It is nice to see your examples how you decorate your terraria.
Is there anybody having experiences at what point (length or weight) snakes are becoming too big for a paludarium?
Best regards, Anton

| @Anton thanks for the comments. I try to base the plant species in the terrarium for that specific snake. I find the ficus bonsai I have used take punishment from the snakes quite well.
I also try and set up areas that I feel the snakes would use more than the live trees - you can see the T. puniceus use the fake vine and the B. schlegelii uses the bamboo. If I notice the snake using a live plant to much I try and support it with a branch or something to ease the plants stress.
The T. albolabris seem to be very gentle with the plants - in my opinion. The A. chlorechis as well. As you can see she is always curled up on the top parts of the branches.
I am going to change her terrarium include a log with some Phalaenopsis orchids and see if she move up higher, at least then she has a couple of places to go.
regards Brad
