| Wow Christian, I'm sorry about you losing the male. That's a bummer. The rest of the gang sure looks nice, though, and I think you're trying to convert me back into a Trimeresurus guy or something. I said I was done with the genus years ago, but you just won't stop with the gorgeous pics! I'm trying to remain happy admiring them from afar, lol. Thanks for sharing. You other guys have some very nice puniceus, as well. | |

| Thanks a lot guys. Walter, no problem, hope that helps. Keep us posted on how your babies are doing, and post some pics as well. You're welcome Brad. The terrariums look great, plenty of space. Love the red on the female's face. Can't believe someone didn't want to keep them anymore. Well, better for you, huh? Feeding with intervals you mentioned is not bad at all, I think. I tend to do that myself. Derek, if my diabolical plan works, eventually you'll find yourself keeping a real exclusive and gorgeous pair of puniceus, hahahahaha Yeah, it really sucked to lose that male, but fortunately the rest of them are still going strong. | |

| Yes very good for me - now if only I can get a successful breed out of them - not many of them available in South Africa. | |

| Walter - Have you tried thin longish pieces of beef heart? You can try assist feed by putting the small piece in her mouth - if all goes well she should eat it. once she gets a bit bigger then move onto pinkie parts.
Beef heart is a good start for neonates as it is full of protein.

| I'm a little late, but great to hear the good news Walter. I hope they're doing well for you now. Any further updates? Here's a pair of '09s from the dark female. Just some random shots after they had shed. 1.0 0.1 Aren't they sweet? On a side note, it very much seems that my hypo female decided to prove how prolific puniceus/Trims can be... She's going to be mom again. She hasn't seen a male since I removed him after the '08 breeding season - which resulted in the '09 litter. Well done... I had different ideas, but obviously I didn't get to vote | |

| As I was away, visiting a friend, the hypo dropped her load on Jan. 2nd.
The result wasn't very good;
* About 12 unfertilized eggs, it seemed. * 1.1 dead babies. The male was unlike any I've seen before, very clean sort of steel gray background color. Unfotunately I couldn't get a photo of him. Not quite sure if these were stillborn or did the mom run them over. * 2.4 live babies, angry as hell. Unfortunately 1.4 of these have spinal kink/s, and 0.3 must be euthanized for sure. Such a shame.

| So sad Christian. My white lip drop 12 unfertilized eggs and nothing else. :-(
I think she needs a break from the boys for a couple of seasons.

| Thanks guys, I appreciate that. Sorry to hear about your albolabris Brad. Thanks for letting me know Bob. And thanks again for trusting me in providing you with nice specimens This litter was totally unplanned, so in a way it's not that big of a deal that it turned out this way. But since she took the time to get gravid on her own, it would've been very interesting to see a healthy litter, to see what type of babies would've appeared. She's feeding aggressively now. We'll see if either of the '08 males would be big enough to be placed with her later this year. If not, then one year from now I will do it. We'll see. I believe that successful results from that mating would be highly interesting and well worth the wait. Here's the other newborn male. Yet again, will be interesting to see how both of them develope, as they have slightly greenish tinge to them. | |

| Thanks a lot Brad. They sure have some sizeable fangs. Congrats on your pair mating, I hope you see some results this time. Here are some updated shots of some random yearlings from the '09 hypo litter. Actually, their 1st birthday was on March 31st! In addition to their unique and spectacular colors, you gotta love those eyes. Oh man, those eyes... Here we go... A hold-back male. This female was the lightest of the litter at birth, bordering white and practically patternless. I am slightly disappointed at the amount of yellow tone and saddles she's taken on since, but even so, she's a stunner in real life. Very light, bright gal. Here's the female that was born brown, and thus jumped out of the crowed early on as well. In shed in this pic, but what can you do... This female is quite hard for me to photograph. It's difficult to get the colors right. She's very light and bright, with a hint of green tone in her. A bit too much on the dark side in this photo. Here's another female that is quite similar to the one above - and equally difficult to capture in all her glory This female's quite nice too. Another female. And yet another hot female... And the last female. At least for this update. ...hope you enjoyed! | |

| Thanks Ari. And no problem, glad you like 'em Let's throw in another update. These are from the dark litter '09, plus an updated pic of the mom. Her Majesty, the Dark One. She's been basking lately, as she's doing in this photo. I'm afraid she also might've decided to get gravid again without seeing a male... Again, this was not at all planned, these guys are improvising outside the plans Must have a talk with them, can't have them constantly soloing around. At this point, the darkest male in the litter. Outstanding male with nice pinkish tones. My first choice for a hold-back female. And here's a selection of other really nice females. This one has awesome amount of pink spotting. Stands out from the other females in that regard. All in all, a nice variation, eh? Will be interesting to see what further color combinations these might produce sometime in the future. | |
